Soley Scripture

by Jon Clayton on 2010/10/06

Sola scriptura is the teaching that the Bible is the only inspired and authoritative word of God. There fore it is the only source for Christian doctrine or teaching. The Scriptures must be available to all who seek to read them. Further, it must be help to be self-interpreting. That is to say that the Bible is a supernatural work. Therefore, only Scripture can interpret Scripture.  This has been a source of controversy both before and after the Reformation.

The Bible does not stand apart from God, it is the very instrument used by God through which he reveals himself for salvation through faith in Christ .
